Haifa Live gets into the mood by looking at two romantic hotspots in West Essex
The rose is red, the violet’s blue, the honey’s sweet, and so are you… February is here, a month I truly love. I remember the anticipation of Valentine’s Day as a young girl, friends with secret admirers, anonymous letters arriving on the doormat (not mine – I don’t think I ever had a secret Valentine), but I do love to love. So, for this month’s column, I am going to introduce or remind you of two of our wonderfully romantic venues that are well worth a Valentine’s visit.
The Blue Boar, Abridge
This local gem has started to make waves in West Essex, not only for its live music and events every week, wonderful food and fully converted outside space, but this chic, boutique-style establishment also offers overnight stays with five individually designed deluxe double, en-suite rooms. All rooms come with king size beds as standard and are finished with contemporary, bespoke details, the perfect place to celebrate with your Valentine.
Having developed a wonderful outside space in 2019, this stunning gastropub in the lovely little village of Abridge offers a beautiful country feel in West Essex. Known for its locally sourced produce, carefully selected wines, cocktails and champagne, the Blue Boar is open seven days a week offering tasty food with a modern, well-balanced menu. Valentina Occasions have also provided amazing private dining pods that are kitted out in full luxury decor, complete with their own rustic bars, solid handmade dining tables and Bluetooth speakers so you can set your own mood. These fabulous pods are fitted with dining tables for up to eight guests, your own private bar, lighting and themed decorations and props to make your dining pod experience magical. A real treat!
The Foresters Arms, Loughton
Set in the heart of Epping Forest with views across the stunning ancient landscape, this gastropub has a reputation that surpasses many. Wonderful home-cooked food, weekly events that include live music and tribute acts to comedy nights and drag brunches, there is something for everyone.
You only need to step inside this stunning public house to realise how much love has gone into each and every corner – decorated in a kitsch and quirky style it feels so homely and welcoming. Another fabulous place to celebrate Valentine’s night.
